Is it possible to feel passionate about something that is shiny, cold and hard?
Something that refuses to age and can be reused in a virtually everlasting cycle?
Something that is a global hit dauntlessly intending to stay on the top?
Here at Damstahl the answer is clear – yes!
Stainless steel is one of the greatest advancements of technology. The story of the success of stainless steel began 100 years ago, when Eduard Maurer and Benno Strauss, engineers at the German company Krupp, obtained a patent for a stainless variety of the metal. At more or less the same time, the Englishman Harry Brearley discovered that steel alloyed with chromium would not rust. This marked the beginning of stainless steel’s triumphant conquest over the world.
In our tribute to this fantastic material we take inspiration from 18/8, 18/10 and 18/12, traditional designations for stainless steel indicating its chromium and nickel content. What’s specifically meant by that will be revealed currently over the year. Keep an eye on our website and subscribe to more information here.
The International Stainless Steel Forum is honouring stainless steel’s centenary year at www.stainlesssteelcentenary.info. Discover the fascinating history of stainless steel and learn about all the areas in which this is the obvious material of choice.
